MICHAEL MORRISON
Our Principal Geotechnical Consultant, Michael Morrison, has been a part of the Geotechnical Landscape of Southeast Queensland for over 25 years. Beginning part-time in 1993 as a Technician, Michael studied for his Bachelor of Arts in Geological Sciences and Social Work at the University of Queensland. On graduating in 2000, Michael moved into a full-time role with Morrison Geotechnic. In 2004, Michael became a director and owner of the business.
With many years’ experiences in project management, consulting and compliance testing and civil construction, Michael has been heavily involved in projects which include major infrastructure developments such as road and rail bridges, dams, highways and bus ways, geotechnical planning, and investigation for large residential subdivisions. His experience with projects ranges from small subdivisions and road widening to major projects and large satellite cities which cater for populations of greater than 20,000. 2021 took ownership of Qualtest Laboratory.
Special interests include construction earthworks trouble shooting, temporary works, foundation preparation, pavement construction, forensic investigations, preventative planning and civil earthworks and roadworks consulting.
With his enthusiasm for completing projects on time and under budget, Michael is always looking for better ways to work. He is passionate about creating a workplace where Qualtest staff can shine as our greatest asset.Michael takes a particular interest in forensic investigations – working with clients to determine why problems have occurred, and what can be done differently to avoid them in future. His encyclopaedic knowledge of ground conditions across Southeast Queensland has been invaluable when advising our clients on what to expect on-site.
Into the future, Michael’s focus is on establishing better relationships with the Civil industry and fostering a greater understanding of the intricacies of geotechnical testing and consulting.
GREG GIBSON
Greg is a Director with 35 years’ experience in covering all facets of civil construction, earthworks construction and civil quality compliance control testing. This experience is drawn from a history leadership role in large Geotechnical companies in South East Queensland.
Greg’s project history includes major shopping centres, master planned residential communities, roads, highways and other major infrastructure. Greg is well respected in the industry asserts respect and loyalty from both his staff and clients.
Greg’s special interests include earthworks, onsite trouble shooting, preventive planning and performance of materials types and uses.
Greg’s involvement on any project ensures the creation of solid relationships, loyalty and the Client has confidence in what Greg communicates is right.
DENNIS ALAZIGHA
Dennis is a registered professional geotechnical engineer with experience across the Mining, Civil, Mine Infrastructure, and Research industries.
Dennis has solid experience applying soil and rock mechanics principles in construction geotechnics and engineering projects, site investigations, design/assessment of geotechnical structures, and analysis of soil and rock mass response to stress in slopes and foundations.
Dennis has been involved in earthworks construction QAQC, design of rail-track, mine open pit design and stability assessment, construction supervision, and foundation design. In addition, Dennis has expert knowledge in geotechnical site investigation programs, test selection/interpretation, and the development of design parameters.
Dennis has also been involved in TSF design/analysis, levee design/analysis, geotechnical testing of soils/rocks, data interpretation, and reporting. Dennis has extensive experience in project management, supervision of bored piling/anchoring, levee/groyne design, and management of Tailings Dam Facilities.
Dennis has flexible and adaptable skills and advanced software competency to apply to civil projects, tailings dams, open-cut mining, and mine infrastructure.
DAVID TAYLOR
David is the Caboolture Branch Manager with 12 years’ experience in covering all facets of civil construction, earthworks construction and civil quality compliance control testing. This experience is drawn from a history of construction materials testing across a wide array of projects in the SEQ region.
His project history includes master planned residential developments, roads, railway, highways and other major infrastructure projects around SEQ.
David's special interests include earthworks, onsite trouble shooting, preventive planning and performance of material types and uses. He is also committed to ensure Qualtest clients get the best service, meet client deadlines, and have a great working relationship with the clients.
RHYS MITCHELL
Rhys is the Coopers Plains Branch Manager with 17 years experience in covering all facets of civil construction, earthworks construction and civil quality compliance control testing. This experience is drawn from a history of construction materials testing across a wide array of projects in Queensland in particular the SEQ region.
Rhys’ project history includes masted planned residential developments, roads, highways, other major infrastructure projects around SEQ and coal seam gas projects in the Gladstone region.
Rhys’ special interests include earthworks, onsite trouble shooting, preventive planning and performance of materials types and uses.
Rhys thrives to ensure Qualtest clients needs and ideas are looked after and provides a service that all parties can be proud of.
TANINDER SINGH
Taninder is a versatile Civil Engineer with comprehensive knowledge of Geotechnical engineering procedures and requirements. A highly motivated person interested to learn and has a strong commitment to develop his skills. He never takes the easy way out and always puts in his best effort.
He is committed to knowledge transference and always aims to build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients, colleagues, contractors and general public.
